30th GATE River Run

On its 30th year, the Gate River Run 15K Championship in Jacksonville is the one of the top running events in the United States.

The Gate River Run is a very popular annual event which has always been extensively covered by the local media.	Over 14,000 participants registered and took part in the event this year.
Shands-Jacksonville is the official medical sponsor with more than a hundred volunteers. The medical area was divided into several units: Rhesus, POD, Minor Medical, First Aid Units and even had a massage therapy area. I was the medical doctor in POD-3.	A number of Filipinos nurses proudly represented the hospital in the event. They are assigned in the ICU, CCU, ER, Medical and Surgical units in the Hospital. Many patients were seen for dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, chest pain and muscle cramps, etc.
